The Megalithic Passage Tomb at Newgrange
Built around 3200 BC, it is estimated that the construction of the Passage Cairn at Newgrange would have taken a work force of 300 at least 20 years. On the winter solstice a shaft of sunlight shines through the roof box over the entrance and penetrates the passage to light up the chamber. This dramatic event lasts for 17 minutes at dawn from 19-23 December. Visitors to the chamber on regular tours experience a simulated Solstice using electric light.

Patricia was welcoming and helpful. Her house is lovely. The breakfast was delicious and fresh, served in a sunny and airy dining room. Her farm is quite large and yet she runs a very nice B&B as well. Charlie and Fred the family dogs helped us not miss ours so much! Drove to the bus station and took a bus into Dublin. Easily done. We drove into Slane one night and saw the best pub jam session I've ever seen, and I've been to Ireland 2 dozen times! The next morning, Patricia booked us at Newgrange and sent us off with a discount as well. Going back soon.SSSSS

Great location, very comfortable room, and good breakfast. In-room internet was not working when we were there so needed to connect in the sitting room; not a big issue as it was very comfortable to catch up and plan the next day from a 'living room' type of setting.
Overall, very pleased and will return/recommend.

Wonderful house with wonderful hostess. Our room was a bit tight, but the lounge was comfortable and completely at our disposal. Convenient to Newgrange andour hostess was able to book our tours there in advance.SSSSS

We stayed here in May. It was delightful. Immaculately clean. Nice hot showers and big fluffy towels. Great breakfast. It was very close to Newgrange and the Hill of Slane. Like every other reviewer, I have to say that Patricia is a wonderful host. He is so personable, and was more than willing to engage in conversations with us. We met the whole family, and everyone was so polite, including their little dog. We loved our time there only 2 days--wish it could have been more.SSSSS

Very comfortable stay with caring people in clean rooms with a great breakfast. It's located within just a couple miles of Newgrange, for which our wonderful hostess secured discount tickets. We were able to go early and avoid long lines. Also close to many other wonderful sites, as well as scenic villages. Lots to see and do in the area. I also liked the secure website for booking. Thanks, Patricia!SSSSS

We booked based on the positive reviews on this site and found Patricia's place to be just as described. The setting is pretty, the rooms immaculate, and the breakfasts extensive and delicious. Patricia is a lovely hostess. We used the discount she was able to arrange for us as a B&B owner to visit the neolithic tombs and she graciously phoned to make sure we could get into the site. Some have mentioned that the rooms are small, and yes ours was-- but our friend's room was not. Given all that was offered, the room size did not matter. We recommend this spot.
